My name is Todd Harper. I graduated from Lompoc High School in 2007. There, I was involved in drama all of my four years! I served as Drama Treasurer, Thespian Treasurer, and Thespian President. I was involved in the formation of the infamous drama contract and have helped to revise/amend it many times. I created all three of the drama club committees in charge of advertising, contract, and member relations. I masterminded the video/sound/lighting for most of the productions in my junior and senior years, controlled the lights for several school dance shows, was the dialect coach for two productions and directed three productions in my time at LHS. I was the T.A. for Mrs. Barthel's beginning drama classes my last two years and was often responsible for heading many projects in that class in addition to the advanced drama class. I also created the drama website after getting the idea from Jenn Alerta!
Though I performed in every production in my high school career, 23 in all (including some with local theatre group, LCT), some of my favorite productions in LHS Drama were Play On!, Bad Seed, Oklahoma!, Harvey, and Godspell. For these productions and others, I was awarded "Best Debut Season", "Best Actor", "Best Thespian", and "Most Supportive". Drama classes and productions in high school, as well as the friendships/bonds I have formed, have helped me develop as an outgoing, productive, hard-working leader and teacher.
I am now a student at UC Davis earning a B.A. in Psychology and Theatre. I'm getting quite actively involved with the theatre department here; I've worked in the scene shop and helped built sets for two productions have designed props for a show called "Nights at the Circus", and am currently getting in to lighting design and stage management. I work as a bus driver for the UC Davis transit system, Unitrans! I'm also in a Christian fraternity called Alpha Gamma Omega, where I serve as the fraternity's house manager.
I certainly haven't abandoned my roots here at LHS Drama as I continue to administer this website and try to modernize it everyday! Some things I have accomplished on the site since high school graduation have been adding this alumni section, making the top menu bar more efficient, making the front page look better, creating the events calendar, coming up with a means to purchase tickets online, and a host of other functions! Things to look forward to are user logon features enabling alumni to edit their profile straight from their desktop (similar to myspace and facebook), secure transaction processing without a 3rd party client such as paypal, and more automated content and overall userability. Who would have guessed that I could stay so involved from over 300 miles away? After finishing college, I plan on coming back to LHS to teach English and Drama so I can spend the rest of my life trapped in this department.
I would like to thank my sister Jenny Harper for first getting me involved in LHS Drama and Mrs. Sarah A. M. Barthel for keeping me there!
