Amanda Hollingworth

Hey, I'm Amanda Hollingworth. I graduated in 2004 and was involved in drama all four years, beginning in 2000. I was the Thespian Vice President from 2002-2004 and was an actor, designer, and playwright. Along with Theresa Kyriaco, Heather Fenske, and Faith Brocksmith, I helped the drama program rise from the dead post-Reil years, during Mrs. Barthel's new regime. I was involved in writing and producing our first annual sketch show, Comedy Tonight!, I also was involved in Little Shop of Horrors, Into the Woods, Play On!, and did lighting for dance shows as well.

I'm now a senior at UCSB as a double major in Anthropology (Archaeological emphasis) and Communications (Business Mangagement emphasis).

Everything I learned in drama has given me wonderful economic leverage. Learning public speaking skills and how to compose yourself and improvise in any situation are critical skills valued by any employer. The initiative and creativity as well as organizational skills that I clearly must have displayed in putting on shows has been an asset.

I've worked at Borders for two years and have been the Training Supervisor for one year to present. I spent nine months interning at a television studio, and nine months interning for an advertsing agency. Currently, I am interning at the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum where I am producing a planetarium show concerning the Chumash and Astronomy. The show should be opening in November and I will tell you right now that it is class A.
